Silestone was invented in 1990. It is a product that brings together the best of natural stone and manages to improve it even further. Silestone has made an undeniable leap forward that gained the immediate recognition of professionals and end users. It has been so successful that the antibacterial, quartz worktop has become a unique category within the brand.

Silestone® by Cosentino is a unique brand; for its properties and characteristics, and because anything bearing the name Silestone® automatically becomes something unique. Its exclusive nature means that it is a brand associated all around the world with design and fashion, achieving the highest levels in innovative and contemporary design. Based on certain, strict measures, certified by industry professionals, Silestone® has achieved a position of global prestige. Silestone is the world leader in quartz surfaces. A unique stone that could only come from the combination of the best that nature has to offer and the most advanced technology.

Silestone has a sophisticated appearance; it has the feel and weight of natural stone but with a much higher quality. Composed of 94% natural quartz, Silestone can be used in the creation of the most beautiful kitchen worktops or the most innovative commercial projects. Its color consistency is incomparable to any other natural stone. Simultaneously since it is almost fully composed by natural quartz, it is an environmentally friendly product,

Silestone is available in 304cm x 138cm and 327cm x 156cm slabs, with three different thicknesses: 12, 20 and 30mm. Quartz is crystallized silica dioxide (SiO2); it is normally white or transparent, although it can appear in other colors if it forms in the presence of impurities. It can be found in its pure state or be present in other components. Its high durability and resistance to acids means it can be used in the manufacturing of a very wide range of precision and high performance products.

There are numerous advantages to Silestone® over natural marble. The following are a few examples:

Natural Beauty - Silestone® has an elegance and beauty only comparable with the prettiest natural stones such as quartz or diamond. Natural quartz of Silestone gives a distinguished density, shine and brilliant sparkles; something that only some natural stones have.

Color - Silestone® is suitable in 50 colors. It is very difficult not to find the appropiate color for any style or texture. Cosentino increases the Silestone® color range every year.

Stain Resistance - Silestone® is a non-porous surface and very resistant to stains of coffee, wine, lemon juice, olive oil, vinegar, make-up and lot of products of daily use.

Versatility - Silestone® can be used for any in-door surface, even kitchen and bathroom worktops, stairs, panels, baths and around baths, floors, walls, bars, tables and desks...

Scratch Resistance - There are only three natural stones (diamond, sapphire and topaz) harder than quartz. This makes that Silestone is high resistant to scratches. Taking in consideration the Mohs hardness scale, the position of the quartz is 7 (diamond is 10). Therefore, using the same knife in different surfaces, Silestone will not be scratched easily. Silestone® is high resistant to scratches, however it is recommended not to abuse its characteristics.

Shock Resistance - Silestone® has great shock resistance, in most cases considerably higher than of other products used for similar applications (granite, solid surfaces, etc) which guarantees safety in the kitchen when handling very hard objects (pans, trays, etc). This resistance is achieved thanks to its quartz (which gives it its hardness ) and poliéster resin (elasticity) and the vibro-compression system used during the production process.

Anti Bacteria – Silestone is the most hygienic surface in the market place. It is the only one that has an antibacterial protection built in while manufacturing process; essentially stopping bacteria from growing.
